Sherwin-Williams Jogging Path SW 7638 is a light-to-medium greige with its beige turned toward khaki rather than pink. With an LRV of 49 it reads as a clear mid-light color on a wall, never as an off-white. Measured, it has no red in it at all, which is what separates it from Agreeable Gray SW 7029 and Accessible Beige SW 7036. Our method labels the undertone noticeable yellow-beige. It is used on exteriors more than most greiges, and in living rooms and bedrooms.

Measured, Jogging Path has a clear amount of yellow and not a trace of red. Agreeable Gray SW 7029 and Accessible Beige SW 7036 both carry a little red; this color has none. On a wall that shows two ways. Against a warm white trim and oak floors it reads as a soft warm gray with a khaki cast, never pink. Against pink-beige tile, terracotta or a red-brown floor the missing red shows and it can flash green. Beside a cool gray it looks plainly beige. Techno Gray SW 6170 is all but identical to it. Accessible Beige, the color people compare it with most, reads a touch pinker and lighter beside it.

Jogging Path in north, south, east and west light

Jogging Path is at its best in south and west rooms, where warm light brings the khaki out and the wall reads as a warm, settled greige. A north-facing room takes the yellow down and leaves a flat gray-green that can look like Mindful Gray SW 7016 with a cast. A warm white trim and warm floors put the warmth back, but the wall still reads a shade darker than the chip there. East rooms are warm at breakfast and gray by evening. Bulbs at 2700K to 3000K keep it true; 4000K bulbs push it toward a cool green-gray.

Watch for

  • In a north room it flattens to a gray-green and reads a shade darker than the chip
  • Beside pink-beige tile, terracotta or a red-brown floor it flashes green
  • Under 4000K bulbs it goes cool green-gray; warm bulbs bring the khaki back

Best rooms and surfaces for Jogging Path

Jogging Path is a living-room and family-room greige for people who found Agreeable Gray SW 7029 too pale and Accessible Beige SW 7036 too beige. It works in a bedroom with a decent window and in a south or west dining room. It suits rooms with white oak, walnut, black metal and white trim, and it does not fight gray tile the way the pinker beiges do. On kitchen cabinets it reads as a khaki greige and needs a white counter and a lighter wall such as Shoji White SW 7042. In a kitchen lit by cool LED strips it turns green-gray. It is too deep for a windowless hallway and wrong for a bathroom with pink-beige tile. As a whole-house color it is heavy; use it in the main rooms and a lighter color in the halls.

Jogging Path on an exterior

Jogging Path is sold for exterior use and works well on siding. Full sun lifts it to a light warm gray with a khaki cast and takes the green risk away. On the shaded side it holds a deeper gray-khaki. Against a red brick skirt or a terracotta roof it can flash green, so look at the sample next to the masonry. White trim gives crisp lines. A black or bronze door works, and Mink SW 6004, Sherwin-Williams' own accent for it, is a softer brown-gray option for shutters.

Questions about Jogging Path

What colors go with Jogging Path?

Sherwin-Williams pairs it with Shoji White SW 7042 on trim and ceilings and Origami White SW 7636 as a second white. Its dark accent is Mink SW 6004, a brown-gray. In practice it sits well with white oak, walnut, black metal, navy, olive and brass. Keep pink-beige and terracotta finishes away from it, since they make it flash green.

Does Jogging Path look green?

It can, and the reason is measurable: Jogging Path has no red in it, so beside anything pink, peach or red-brown the eye supplies green to balance it. It also goes gray-green in a north room under cool bulbs. Beside white oak, a warm white trim, black metal or a gray floor it reads as a plain khaki greige.

What is one shade darker than Jogging Path?

Gateway Gray SW 7644 is the next color down its fan-deck strip, a step darker with the same khaki lean. One step up is Grecian Ivory SW 7541, noticeably lighter. Fawn Brindle SW 7640 sits three steps down the same strip. Among its closest matches, Techno Gray SW 6170 is nearly the same color and Analytical Gray SW 7051 a touch darker.

Is Jogging Path good for exteriors?

Yes. It suits a house with a black, charcoal or gray roof and stone or gray-toned masonry, where it reads as a warm light gray with a khaki cast. It is a poor match for red brick or a terracotta roof, which bring out the green. Trim it in Pure White SW 7005 or Shoji White SW 7042 and use a black or bronze door.

Is Jogging Path good for kitchen cabinets?

It works on lower cabinets and islands as a khaki greige that hides marks without going dark. It wants a white counter, brass or black pulls and a lighter wall in Shoji White SW 7042 or Origami White SW 7636. Under cool LED strip lights it turns green-gray, so fit warm bulbs. Beside a pink-veined marble it looks green; pick a gray-veined stone instead.
