Try my home: take a color you are considering and try it on your own walls before a drop of paint is bought. The site started with paint and is built to take on the other finishes of a house, one surface at a time.

Names, codes and digital swatches come from the manufacturers. Each color page links to its source. Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore provide the LRV values used here. Farrow & Ball LRV is our estimate from its published RGB swatch, labeled as estimated wherever shown; it is not a measurement of a painted surface.

We classify hue and chroma using CIE Lab coordinates. Sherwin-Williams supplies Lab values; for Benjamin Moore and Farrow & Ball we calculate Lab from sRGB using a D65 reference white. Our hue categories summarize the direction of the swatch's lean. They cannot identify pigments, rule out a perceived undertone or predict the paint under every light source. A neutral label means low chroma in this method, not an assurance that the paint never shows color.

Similar-color lists use CIEDE2000 color distance within our catalog. Cross-brand results combine published and calculated Lab values, so they are a shortlist for sampling, not certified paint matches. Finish, lighting, application and the surface can change the result. Do not use a different color or brand to touch up existing paint.

The written guides interpret these data and suggest pairings to try. They are not reports of physical paint testing. Directional light advice assumes a typical northern-hemisphere setting; season, latitude, window size and reflected light can change it. Test samples beside your fixed finishes at the times you actually use the room.

Room and house images are labeled AI renderings made from a shared set of photographs. They illustrate a scheme; generation can alter details and does not simulate paint reflectance reliably. Screens also vary. Always confirm the final choice with a physical sample.

The method and its limits are visible. The same classification rules apply across the catalog. Manufacturer values and our estimates are identified separately, so you can see what supports a comparison.

Renders are labeled as renders. Nothing on the site is presented as a photograph of a painted room.

We say when a link pays us. Sample links point to Samplize and are or will become affiliate links. They never cost you anything extra, and no seller has any say in what a page says about a color.

We are not the paint company. TryMyHome is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by any paint manufacturer. Color names and codes are their trademarks, used only to identify the colors.

It does not sell paint, and it does not list or sell homes. It is not a substitute for a physical sample on your own wall, in your own light, which is the last step before a gallon and always will be.
