Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace OC-65 is a clean bright white with almost nothing in it, the plainest of the brand's widely used whites. Its LRV of 90 is high enough that walls throw light back into the room and take on whatever color the light itself carries. There is so little pigment in Chantilly Lace that its lean only shows against another white. What it carries is yellow with an almost equal trace of green, and the two cancel into something the eye reads as plain rather than warm or cool. Beside White Dove OC-17 it looks cleaner and cooler; beside Decorator's White OC-149 it looks marginally softer and warmer. Left to itself it takes on the room, so warm bulbs make it creamy and north light with cool lamps makes it faintly gray. That is the trade for a white this clean, and it is why sampling matters more here than on a color with pigment to anchor it.

Chantilly Lace goes on trim, doors and millwork more often than on walls, because it gives the sharpest edge against a colored wall without shifting blue. On kitchen cabinets it is the choice when the kitchen should look crisp and new, and it keeps that look beside stainless and black hardware. As a wall color it wants a room with something else going on, art, tile, a wood ceiling, since a room painted entirely in it has nothing to rest on. A bedroom done in it can feel bare unless the textiles carry the warmth. Above almost any wall color it makes a reliable ceiling white.
